Jerry and Marnie are Broadway actors who haven't worked in years. At Jerry's insistence, they take on a wildly unorthodox job for a rich, young New York banker in SHOW PEOPLE, a crazy comedy about the darker aspects of the need to be theatrical.

Paul Weitz is the author of the acclaimed plays TRUST, SHOW PEOPLE, and PRIVILEGE, all of which premiered at Second Stage Theatre. His play MANGO TEA was produced Off-Broadway with Marisa Tomei and Rob Morrow by New York's Ensemble Studio Theatre, which also produced his next works, CAPTIVE, ALL FOR ONE, and the acclaimed ensemble comedy ROULETTE. He also wrote and directed the comedy AMERICAN DREAMZ, starring Hugh Grant, Dennis Quaid, and Mandy Moore, as well as the critically acclaimed film IN GOOD COMPANY, starring Topher Grace and Scarlett Johansson. With his brother and frequent collaborator Chris Weitz, he co-directed and adapted the screenplay from Nick Hornby’s novel for the award winning hit, ABOUT A BOY. The screenplay received an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay, as well as similar nominations from BAFTA, Writers Guild, Chicago Film Critics, and Humanitas.



 Emily Gates (Natalie) is so excited to be working with Live Theatre Workshop again as apart of this incredible production of SHOW PEOPLE, and to have the opportunity to bring the character of Natalie to life! Emily is going into her junior year at the University of Arizona getting her bachelor's degree in Theatre arts. Some of Emily’s favorite shows include: APPROPRIATE, TIME STANDS STILL, LOVE AND INFORMATION, DEATH BY DESIGN, MISOGYNISTIC SHOES, WOMEN IN JEOPARDY, THE HOUSE OF BLUE LEAVES, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, and ROMEO AND JULIET. Emily would like to thank her mother, father and older sister for always loving and supporting her. Richard and Amanda Gremel for being amazing and supporting teachers to her, and the whole Live Theatre Workshop family for giving her this incredible opportunity.  Lesley Abrams (Marnie) is happy to be back at Live Theatre Workshop where she has appeared in DOROTHY PARKER’S LAST CALL (which she wrote), THE LADY WITH ALL THE ANSWERS (about Ann Landers) and most recently MISS WITHERSPOON. She has performed locally in productions of WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF (Mac Award, Best Actress), DOUBT, STEEL MAGNOLIAS, NOISES OFF, SISTER MARY IGNATIUS EXPLAINS IT ALL FOR YOU, and FROZEN (MAC Award, Best Actress.) Lesley is co-founder of the Laughing Stock Comedy Company, which specializes in creating customized, improvised comedy for business audiences nationwide and serves at St John on the Desert Presbyterian Church as their Pastor.


 Christopher Moseley (Director) earned his B.F.A from the University of Arizona and his M.F.A from the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. Chris previously directed BASKERVILLE, A SHERLOCK HOLMES MYSTERY and has appeared many times on the LTW stage, most recently in DEATH BY DESIGN, LAUGHTER ON THE 23RD FLOOR and THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (Abridged). Other plays Chris has been seen in include THE COCKTAIL HOUR, BEAU JEST, CLOUD NINE AND BELL, BOOK AND CANDLE. Chris is the Theater Arts instructor at Catalina High School.


 Richard Gremel (Lighting Designer) has been lighting up the LTW stage for the past 12 years. He is a graduate of the University of Arizona where he received a B.F.A. in Theatre Education. Richard is the acting and technical theatre teacher at Empire High School. He is the recipient of the 2017-2018 Arizona Thespians Teacher of the Year and the 2018-2019 OnMedia Tucson Arts Hero Award. Aside from tech and teaching, Richard acts, directs, and writes plays for the LTW stage. He currently has eight published plays which have been seen all over the United States, Canada, India, Hong Kong, England and Australia.

 Taylor Rascher (Tom) is thrilled to be back at LTW for this production of SHOW PEOPLE. Tucson theatre-goers will remember Taylor from Roadrunner’s production of CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF or LTW’s production of HOUSE OF BLUE LEAVES: “Rascher’s man-on-the-edge portrayal of Ronnie is bone-chilling.” (AZ Daily Star) Taylor received a BFA in Acting, plus a BA in Creative Writing with a Philosophy minor from the University of Arizona. During his undergraduate career, Taylor was featured in various ART productions (AS YOU LIKE IT, HAY FEVER, JULIUS CAESAR, INSPECTING CAROL, CYMBELINE). Taylor has also performed with Arizona Theatre Company (SUNSHINE BOYS & CLYBOURNE PARK). Following graduation, Taylor moved to Washington, D.C. where he performed at the Kennedy Center with the Washington National Opera (MOBY DICK, APPOMATTOX, AOI: BETTER GODS). When Taylor is not on stage, he manages client’s timelines and expectations as a REALTOR with Long Realty. Taylor wants to thank his wife for her never-ending patience and support.  Brian McElroy (Sound Design) Essentially raised on the LTW stage, Brian migrated backstage following high school, drawn by the intricacies of technical production. He is very humbled to be a part of Tucson's vibrant theatre scene, contracting as a light designer, sound designer, or stage manager for various Tucson theatre companies in the past few years. You are most likely, however, to find him stage managing or designing at the place that nurtured his theatre education -- LTW. Most recent sound design projects at LTW include STAGE KISS, DEATH BY DESIGN, EVERY BRILLIANT THING, THE EFFECT, and APPROPRIATE and favorite past designs include LTW's HOUND OF BASKERVILLE, ANNAPURNA, and Roadrunner's GOD OF CARNAGE.


 Matthew C. Copley (Set Design) is a native Tucsonan, a graduate of the University of Arizona, and the Theatre/ Stagecraft teacher at Tanque Verde High School! While Matthew has taken this opportunity to test his technical chops, he is usually more comfortable with performing. Matthew most recently appeared on the LTW Mainstage in STAGE KISS, and his previous work at LTW includes the Family Theatre production of CAT-MAN AND KID SPARROW, THE FANTASTIC CRIME-FIGHTING DUO, the Mainstage productions of BASKERVILLE: A SHERLOCK HOLMES MYSTERY, BELOW THE BELT, [SIC], OLD JEWS TELLING JOKES, LAUGHTER ON THE 23RD FLOOR, MOVE OVER MRS. MARKHAM, THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (ABRIDGED) [REVISED] (2014 Mac Award, Best Actor, Comedy), and PHOTOGRAPH 51, as well as the Etcetera productions of ROMEO AND JULIET and PLAYING WITH FIRE (for which he also designed and created the Special FX Makeup). Matthew would like to offer up a huge amount of love and gratitude to both his LTW family and his at-home family. Y'all are awesome!

 Marchus Lewis (Stage Manager) is honored to be a part of the Live Theatre Workshop family in this wonderful company of SHOW PEOPLE. Above all, he is committed to a life in theatre as a means of participating in the artistic dialog that is so vital to the health of any society, and especially ours. He has received an AFA in visual and performing arts at PCC where he studied theatre. Marchus’s most recent productions that he has been involved in are: CAT ON A HOTTIN ROOF, INSPECTING CAROL, DEATH BY DESIGN, SCROOGE, and BEST OF STORIESTHAT SOAR.Thank you for supporting local theatre.


 Karin Hupp (Props Master, Scenic Painter) has been the prop master for over three years; she also does scenic painting and box office. Some of her favorite projects included the wedding cake for ONE SLIGHT HITCH, the hound from BASKERVILLE:A SHERLOCK MYSTERY, and the cookies from FROG AND TOAD. Favorite scenes she has painted include Dorothy Parker's VICIOUS CIRCLE and the bookshelves inTHE COLUMNIST. Karin enjoys working for LTW because it helps her grow as an artist.

 Steve McKee (Jerry) is delighted to return to the LTW Mainstage with this talented cast. Previous LTW productions include PHOTOGRAPH 51, and ENCHANTEDh APRIL. Steve recently appeared inThe RogueTheatre’s MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING. Favorite roles include Roger DeBris in THE PRODUCERS, and Alan in GOD OF CARNAGE. He has performed atThe GaslightTheatre and been in a number of local independent and student films. He would like to dedicate this performance to his wonderful wife and thank her for all her love and support.


 Taylor Moss (Technical Director) Taylor is a recent graduate of the University of Arizona. Her latest project was interim AssistantTechnical Director for Arizona Broadway Theatre for their production of Sister Act. Taylor is a nativeTucsonan and lover/supporter of local performance in every form. Taylor would like to thank both her family and friends for their daily support in her path to follow her dreams. She is thrilled to be working with Live Theatre Workshop on their production of Show People.
