ABOUT THE PLAY
Do you love camping? Have you been taken to the woods under the guise of "fun?" This comedy is about what the beauty of nature brings out in us and in our relationships. From quiet moments with our loved ones, to the fights that shifted the family forever. Two actors play multiple roles in this late-night comedy.
DIRECTOR’S NOTES
About a year ago, I had an idea to make a show about camping with your loved ones. This was born out of the many times I have politely declined or begrudgingly accepted invitations to go camping with my friends. I love them and they love me, but I don’t want to test that by putting us in nature. If I wanted to get into an argument, I’d prefer it if there was central air.
However, the concept of being somewhere with nothing to prevent you from saying how you really feel was exciting. So, Allison, Kyleigh, and I improvised and wrote several scenes that made us laugh and allowed us to talk about more difficult topics without inducing the eyeroll of the century.
When you go camping, no matter where you go, you still bring yourself and your baggage. However, anytime you are invited to go camping, the invitation is a sign that the person who invited you wants to share time or reconnect in the peaceful sanctuary that nature offers. This show is about 6 people trying to do that, thanks to, or in spite of, that sanctuary.
