About the Show
The classic story of Sleeping Beauty is reimagined in this all-new musical adventure. When the king and queen forget to give the king’s seventh sister, Sara the Surley, an invitation to celebrate their daughter’s birth, they know they are in for trouble, and they aren’t wrong. Sara, along with the help of her bewitched feline, Catonia, places a curse on Princess Rose: One that will make her sleep for a hundred years. But with the help of a kiss from Prince Harold, Princess Rose is awakened. Can they outwit Sara and her curses? Will they fall in love and live happily ever after? Join us for a fantastical adventure with Sleeping Beauty and friends.

Benjamin Walker Evans
King Benevar, Understudy for Prince Harold
Benjamin Walker Evans is excited to spend his time at Live Theatre Workshop as royalty in SLEEPING BEAUTY. He is also currently a BA FTV senior at the University of Arizona and is currently working on his short film as part of the Magic Hour program. His most recent personalities that surfaced could be seen at Old Tucson's NIGHTFALL & YULETIDE, which is where he spends most of his performing time. He can't wait to spend his whole life with his show daughter, who will totally not fall into a deep slumber.

Timea Post
Queen Millicent, Understudy for Princess Elizabeth Rose
Timea Post (she/her) is very excited to be making her Live Theatre Workshop debut in SLEEPING BEAUTY. Her recent credits include Dusty in POTUS (Winding Road Theater Ensemble), Miss Casewell in THE MOUSETRAP (Oro Valley Theatre Company), Fraulein Schneider in CABARET (Pima Theater), and Ensemble in THE WIZARD OF OZ(Saguaro City Music Theatre). Timea studied theatre and film at Pima Community College, where she recently graduated with an AFA in Fine and Performing Arts. In her free time, she enjoys crocheting and spending time with her dogs, Breeze and Holly. You can keep up with her on Instagram at @timeapost.

Alexandra Kaplan
Catonia the Cat
Alexandra Kaplan (she/her) is thrilled to return to the Live Theatre Workshop stage in SLEEPING BEAUTY. She holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts from the University of Arizona, where she developed a strong love for ensemble-driven storytelling. Her professional credits include Nell in SHIP with Live Theatre Workshop, Fleance in MACBETH, and understudying Amanda in WOMEN IN JEOPARDY with Arizona Theatre Company, as well as understudying Dusty in POTUS with Winding Road Theater Ensemble. Select collegiate performances at the University of Arizona include Love in EVERYBODY and Andromeda/Others in ARGONAUTIKA. Alexandra is grateful to be working under the direction of Tyler Gastelum and sends heartfelt thanks to stage manager Monet Zuniga, the cast, and the incredible behind-the-scenes team whose dedication brings this production to life. Endless love and appreciation to her family for their constant support.

Emily Fuchs
Sara the Surly
Emily Fuchs is thrilled to participate in Sleeping Beauty! While this is Emily's first time on the LTW Children's Theatre stage, she was previously seen in Live Theatre Workshop's THE MISS FIRECRACKER CONTEST (Popeye), LADY FROM THE SEA (Arnholm), and THE LITTLE DOG LAUGHED (Ellen). Emily received an Associate of Fine Arts in Theatre Performance from Pima Community College in 2017, a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Studies from The University of Arizona in 2019, and a Masters Degree in Studies of Global Media in 2025. Recent credits include the Invisible Theatre’s HOPSCOTCH TO INFINITY and The Scoundrel and Scamp Theatre's MACBETH.

Nika Aguilar
Princess Elizabeth Rose
Nika Aguilar is a soon-to-be graduate from the University of Arizona’s Neuroscience program. She loves all things creative and is excited that she gets to work with LTW again. Her performance in LTW’s MISS FIRECRACKER CONTEST earned her an award for best supporting performer. She’s over the moon that she gets to debut in the Children’s Theatre as Princess Elizabeth Rose in this hilarious rendition of SLEEPING BEAUTY.

Alec Errhalt
Prince Harold
This is Alec Errhalt's first time performing with Live Theater Workshop. Born and raised in Arizona and a student of the University of Arizona, he has honed his craft through various roles in short films and theater, developing a deep passion for storytelling. He is honored to collaborate with such an esteemed group of artists and eager to contribute to the magic of live theater. When not on stage, he enjoys exploring creative outlets and supporting local arts. Most recent works have been THE MOUSETRAP by Agatha Christie in Iowa City, Iowa, and ROMEO AND JULIET with the rogue theater here in Tucson. Hi Mom, Hi Dad—I love you! I would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to my family, friends, and mentors for their unrivaled support. Member of Koso Theater Collective.

Mike Saxon
King Trevor
Mike Saxon (he/him) was born in Tucson and majored in Theatre Education at the University of Arizona. He joined the Tucson theater community shortly after graduating high school and in that time has acted, directed, stage managed and sound designed for countless local companies. Some of his favorites include stage managing SNOOPY! for Live Theatre Workshop, portraying Ford in MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR for the EL Rio Theater Project, and sound designing MEN IN BOATS for Something Something Theater Company. He currently works as a theater teacher at the Academy of Tucson High School and as the Resident Stage Manager at Arts Express.

Tyler Gastelum
Director
Tyler Gastelum (he/him) is ecstatic to direct at Live Theatre Workshop for the very first time, where he has had the privilege of working as a teacher, actor, and even student when he was growing up. A Tucson native, Tyler is an alumnus of the local Bennett Theatrelab. With nearly 20 years of local theatre experience under his belt, he is passionate about both the arts and education, being lucky enough to combine those two loves, on and off the stage, all over the Old Pueblo. Recent credits include Antonio Salieri in Winding Road Theatre Ensemble's AMADEUS, Felipe the Rooster in Scoundrel and Scamp Theatre's recent production of ALEBRIJES, and Jon in Winding Road's TICK, TICK . . . BOOM!

Michael Martinez
Music Director
Michael Martinez (he/him) is the executive artistic director of Live Theatre Workshop. Previously he has performed on the LTW Mainstage and Children's Theater in delightful shows such as SOUVENIR, THE FROG PRINCE, THE WIZARD OF OZ, and YOU’RE A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN and SNOOPY! Michael often writes, composes, and directs professional children's theater shows including, THE TORTOISE AND THE HARE, OSO FUERTE, DIA DE LOS MUERTOS: THE MUSICAL, and FRIDITA Y EL PINCEL MAGICO. Michael is passionate about the city of Tucson and is committed to helping with services that arts and educational organizations provide to make Tucson a great place to live. Michael has a Bachelor degree in music from the University of Arizona and a Masters degree in Public Administration. He loves teaching musical theatre classes at Live Theatre Workshop and working collaboratively with all the outstanding artists in this amazing city. This show is dedicated to Lady Charlotte with whom he originated this project almost 20 years ago.

Amanda Gremel
Choreographer
Amanda Gremel (she/her) is LTW’s Artistic Director of Education and loves bringing original, magical stories to life on the Children’s Theatre stage. She also oversees LTW’s ever-growing Education Program and is proud of all that her students accomplish each session. When not behind the scenes directing or choreographing, Amanda enjoys performing as well. Favorite Mainstage roles include PATSY IN ALWAYS… PATSY CLINE, the many women in NO WAY TO TREAT A LADY (MAC nomination), Bertha in Boeing Boeing, and ensemble in the award-winning HOW I LEARNED TO DRIVE. Some of her favorite Children’s Theatre roles include Frog in A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD, the Golden Goose in JACK AND THE BEANSTALK, Merlia in KING ARTHUR, and the Sheriff of Nottingham in ROBIN HOOD.

Monet Zuniga
Stage Manager
Monet Zuniga (she/her) is excited to be working on Live Theatre Workshop’s production of SLEEPING BEAUTY. In continuing her work in the community, she has assistant stage-managed for Live Theater Workshop's production of MURDER AT THE HOWARD JOHNSON'S and THE MINUTES. She has worked on a few different shows for her high school, Salpointe Catholic High School. Where she has stage-managed both INTO THE WOODS, and HADESTOWN; the latter of which performed at the Arizona Thespian Festival, and won full superiors at the National level. Monet has also received a Thespy for her work on the show at the International Thespian Festival. She is thankful for mother’s support and her little dog’s kisses!

Emmalynn Whitney
Sound Designer
Emmalynn Whitney (she/her) is a junior who attends Empire High School. She is the Stage Manager and has worked the tech for many shows that have taken place at her school including THE ROYAL DOUBLE FEATURE, and Assistant SM of PERCY JACKSON: THE MUSICAL. She has also been a part of some of the productions that have taken place at Live Theatre Workshop including the 5th and 6th Annual Young Playwrights of Tucson, RANKED: THE MUSICAL as well as being the Sound Designer for RAP-UNZEL: THE HIP HOP MUSICAL. She is honored to be able to work with such a dedicated and talented cast and crew and cannot wait for everyone to see the hard work that has been put into this production!

Richard Gremel
Set Designer, Lighting Designer, Technical Advisor
Richard Gremel has been designing at Live Theatre Workshop for the past 18 seasons. Some of his favorite designs were for YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN, TILLY THE TRICKSTER, and TALL TALES: LEGENDS OF AMERICA. He is a graduate of the University of Arizona where he received a B.F.A. in Theatre Education. Richard is the acting and technical theatre teacher at Empire High School. He is the recipient of the Arizona Thespians Teacher of the year (2017-2018 & 2023-2024) and the OnMedia Tucson Arts Hero (2018-2019). Aside from teaching, Richard acts, directs, and writes plays for the LTW stage. He currently has 11 published plays which have been seen all over the United States, Canada, India, Hong Kong, England, Italy, and Australia. www.richardgremelplaywright.com

Marchus Lewis
Head of Construction
Marchus Lewis is honored to return to Live Theatre Workshop, where he believes deeply in theatre’s power to spark essential community dialogue. He holds an AFA in Visual and Performing Arts from PCC and has been a core company member of Stories That Soar! since 2019, serving as an actor, stage manager, and storyteller. From 2022–2024, he sharpened his technical craft as part of the tech crew at The Gaslight Theatre. He is endlessly grateful for the collaborative artists who turn imagination into reality night after night. Thank you for supporting local theatre.

The Polzin Family
Costume Design
The Polzin Family are Lee, Sarah, Jen, Roark and Petra. The family began creating together when the kids were young and their family tradition has developed into a life of cosplay, acting, multiple home businesses and a theatre costume and prop production team. Combining artistic abilities, the crew has a broad and growing wheelhouse and love using these skills to solve creative problems and make the impossible possible. Their favorite projects include MACBETH (props), ALEBRIJES (props and costumes) and SCARLET AND THE WOLF (costumes). They are excited to be joining Live Theatre Workshop in costume design for SLEEPING BEAUTY.

Prop Master
Christina Walker is happy to be helping out with props for Sleeping Beauty. When she is not directing (SILENT SKY at LTW, A TUCSON PASTORELA for 3 years running at Borderlands Theater, and Tucson's first production of THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES at the sold-out Rialto Theater) or acting (Helena in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, Boo in BLUE WINDOW, Doctors 1 - 6 in RECKLESS are favorite roles), she enjoys helping out with props and other technical aspects of theater.
